On November 29, at the Wumuchong International Art Park in Meitanba Town, Ningxiang, a restoration team from France's École Supérieure d'Art d'Avignon joined hands with Chinese counterparts to launch the protection and restoration of coal mining industrial heritage sites. Rooted in the industrial remains of Meitanba Town—once hailed as the "Coal Capital of Central Hunan"—the park initiated construction in 2016 with the goal of establishing a world-class industrial heritage art industry base. To date, it has forged partnerships with over 10 international art institutions and universities across more than 10 countries, having hosted multiple art residency programs.

The restoration project balances ecological conservation with heritage activation while delving deep into the mining area's humanistic memories and integrating emotional value. This cross-border collaboration has yielded distinctive outcomes such as the "Meitanba Black" pigment and the "Meitanba Waterwheel." According to the plan, the restored park will feature core facilities including an art museum and an academy. In the future, it is expected to attract numerous artists for long-term creations and hundreds of international university students for residency programs annually.
